Iowa Stubborn 200k
October 12 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 pm
$10.00Meredith Willson wrote the script, lyrics and music for the Broadway musical “The Music Man” in 1957 (film released in 1962) and in the first sung number in the show, “Iowa Stubborn”, the local Iowans claim:
"You really ought to give Iowa ... Hawkeye Iowa ... Ought to give Iowa a try".
Indeed! This is your opportunity to give “Hawkeye Iowa” a try! Starting in the downtown Iowa City pentacrest area (a bit like River City) and traveling up through Solon, Mt. Vernon and Marion (not the librarian), we eventually arrive in Cedar Rapids. We then loop back down thru Ely, North Liberty, and Coralville before cycling south of Iowa City to visit Hills and the Mennonite communities before returning back past the iconic Kinnick Stadium to the Iowa City downtown pedmall. This route connects miles of trails together to make for a fun, safe, well supported Iowa-kind-of-day cycling.
Note: there is a short section of light gravel south of Iowa City in the rural Mennonite area. Keep that in mind when you think about your setup.
